More stories from T14

T14 has been practising being Interactors and Communicators over the last two weeks during writing time. They worked with a buddy to write a story. The story had to include characters, a setting, a problem for the characters and how the problem was solved. The children had to share their ideas with each other, take turns and problem solve. They published their stories using the app Book Creator.  To do this they had to check that their pictures matched their story. They did a great job persevering to get the books published. Well done T14

Fun Friday!

In Ti Kouka we love having Discovery open door. The children were up to so many busy things and been really creative.

Our new train set was really popular. We had to take turns and share this while negotiating with our friends.

We loved experimenting with the lego wheels and ramp.  We found it interesting how our cars fastness was changed by its height, weight and how far we started up the ramp.

Catherine brought in her special cutters and stamps and we got to create some beautiful cards

We also had lots of junk construction..

Doctors helping sore patients,

A puppet show,

 And beautiful Spring blossom paintings!

The most exciting part for us was when Ash brought in his guinea pigs to show us.  Thanks so much Ash!

This week we have been role playing what to do when we are lost.

We have also been talking about how to stay safe on the internet.

Cross country reflections

I felt a bit nervous but I got over it. I liked going under the parachute and I liked jumping over the hula hoops. By Harrison
All of it was fun except for when I fell on the steps by the slide. I felt happy because I was 6th place. By Shannon

I felt happy in the cross country. I was crawling, running and going under things. Running down the hill was the best. By Leo

I felt nervous because there were lots of people watching Ti Kouka and Whio. I liked going over and under the red bars the best. I did not like walking on the wooden sides of the big kids playground. I got upset when the cross country finished. My mum and dad came to watch me and I was puffed. By Alyssa

I felt scared at the start. My favourite bit in the race was running under the parachute. My least favourite was the jumping. The point of the cross country is taking your time. By Reese

Activities included scavenger hunts, icing biscuits, making rakau sticks and learning some moves, number activities, colour activities and more. The older children interacted well with the younger members in the group and everyone enjoyed their afternoon.

T14's thoughts on the production

In the production I was the god of the storms and wind. On my face there was face paint. On the t shirt, there were zig zags and swirls. I was dancing and grooving. I stayed for the finale. I was super duper excited to go on the stage. I wondered how I would glow in the dark. I saw lights shining in my eyes. I heard talking all around the hall.
By Ella

At the production I was a sea creature leader. My mum and dad and granny came to watch me. My brother was a soldier. They watched him too. I felt proud of myself when we went on stage. My face was painted silver because I was a dolphin. When it was time for the finale we sang the Kiwi Kids song and danced to it. I wonder when the next time we perform will be fun.

I felt excited because there were a lot of people on the seats. My best part was when the Matariki stars skipped across the stage. I liked 'Reach for the Stars' at the end. At the finale I had two buddies. I saw people glowing in the lights during Reach for the Stars. I wondered if there was going to be another production.

I was in the production. I was at the beach. I had to say some words in the production. I was happy because I saw my dad. I liked the bonfire. By Caitlin

I felt nervous because my mum, dad, gran and granddad came. I am in the Matariki feast. My buddy was Reese. I had face paint on. It was a butterfly. I liked it. I saw a ukulele. I heard music. I wondered when the next one will be. I had props. It was a basket wrapped up in steel.

I felt the face paint itch when I was getting it on. I felt super excited because my nana and granddad were there. I wondered what the other people were going to do. I heard people taking photos of us. My shirt was glowing because it had fluoro paint on it. On the first time, I felt embarrassed. I wanted to sing Kiwi kids on my first time so I sang it on the second time.
