Visit with Constable Ross

Today we had Constable Ross visiting Ti Kouka. He talked with each T-group about the police and how their job was about keeping people safe. He focused  on the show being a busy place with lots of people and that sometimes children can get lost.

Children were reminded of the information needed if you get lost.

  • phone number (he suggested writing it on your hand or on a wrist band)
  • knowing your address
I noticed that most of T15 knew their addresses.

Role playing getting help when lost.

Constable Ross also talked about being safe in cars.
  • being in a car seat
  • seat belt on
  • sitting  in the back
  • keeping all body parts inside the car - no hands or feet out windows etc
  • getting in and out on the footpath side
  • waiting for mum's and dad's when out of the car
The children then went over to the police car and were able to sit inside. Constable Ross also turned on the lights and the siren. A very useful visit.
